Whether it be a traditional church wedding, a ceremony on the beach, in a beautiful private garden or the historic Cheviot Hills Domain, Cheviot has it all.

CHURCH LOCATIONS

KNOX CHURCH is a beautiful stone church which holds just over 100 guests and is available for hire to the local community for a donation of $200 to the Cheviot Knox Community Centre Trust. The adjacent hall is available for hire for $11 per hour which includes a small kitchen. There are 100 place settings of crockery for hire at 20 cents a piece.

The church and hall are situated at the south end of Cheviot’s main street.  Please contact Janine Sundberg on 021 186 4284 to book or for more information.

ST JOHNS ANGLICAN CHURCH  is a small church, seating approximately 90 guests. It has a lovely wooden interior with magnificent William Morris designed stain glass windows. The church can be viewed on www.scaber.org/panos/Churches/StJohns. There is no charge for the use of the church, but a donation to a mission is appreciated. The officiant must be an ordained Anglican priest. PUBLIC OUTDOOR AREAS

For those attracted to a BEACH WEDDING the beautiful GORE BAY is only 7km from Cheviot township, with Manuka Bay and Nape Nape beach further south. Weddings can take place on the beach or in the reserve areas for outstanding photo opportunities.

CHEVIOT HILLS DOMAIN  provides a spectacular venue for outdoor weddings. Swathes of daffodils in the spring and beautiful woodlands provide splendid backdrops for photos plus there are lawned areas for the ceremony and a sheltered pavilion in case of rain.  

ST ANNES LAGOON,  just north of Cheviot on State Highway 1, is another marvellous natural setting for a wedding and celebratory photos.  A variety of deciduous trees, the ever changing light, and wildlife cruising on the lagoon create a beautiful setting.

Garden Weddings 

Want to hold a wedding breakfast?

CHEVIOT RUGBY CLUB  has recently invested in wall and ceiling drapings that create the same feeling as a silk lined marquee and seats up to 200 people.  The fee for hiring the rooms is $1,750 which includes the use of the linings (and placement of) and a $250 refundable deposit. The Rugby club is licensed and has competitive prices. CATERING

The CHEVIOT TRUST HOTEL has facilities to cater for up to 100 seated guests, has a stage and dance floor and rooms available to host the wedding party and some guests.  For more information view www.cheviothotel.co.nz     

The CHEVIOT GOLF CLUB hires out their club rooms which boast a large open fire and views from the front balcony of the Kaikoura Mountains in the distance. There is a kitchen available and a seperate bar. Contact Jen Le Pine on 03 319 8906 for more information.
