Location & Maps
Cheviot enjoys an excellent location, bordered by the Hurunui and Waiau rivers, the Pacific Ocean and Lowry foothills. An easy 75 minute drive south on SH1 through farm land, vineyards and eateries brings you to Christchurch, the South Island’s largest city and international airport. Less than an hour’s drive north is the dramatic coastal town of Kaikoura, world famous for its whale watching operations, fresh seafood and rugged snow-capped mountains.
The geothermal hot springs and tourist destination of Hanmer Springs lies 70 minutes drive to the West, as does Mt Lyford Ski Resort, a sunny, family orientated field with four lifts, ski hire and ski school.
Cheviot is one of the many gems along the Alpine Pacific Triangle, a popular touring route north of Christchurch.
